Going green campaign

Recycling bins

We believe that the health of the community at large is directly impacted by the environment and therefore, accepts that it needs to be committed to acting in an environmentally, responsible manner in discharging its statutory duties. The Trust recognised the requirement to have a robust green/environmental policy in place ,which shows its commitment to the wider/global issues involved.

In 2009/10, the audit commission will be assessing green issues for the
first time as part of the use of resources assessment. Bexley Care Trust
should be aspiring to achieve level four. However, for the first year
the aspiration is to achieve level two and have a robust benchmark
against which to measure in future years.

In addition, we have agreed the following targets:

  • to achieve level 2 of the green issues from the ‘use of resources assessment’
  • develop a carbon footprint and establish CO2 emissions working towards a reduction of 5%
  • ensure all papers going to committees consider the green impact
  • establish a baseline for the use of all energy to work towards receiving an annual reduction of 5%
  • develop and approve a greener lease car scheme for the Trust.
