What do health visitors do?
Bexley's health visiting team provides support to children under 5 and their families.
Our service consists is provided by Oxleas NHS Trust and consists of 18 health visiting teams who work across Frognal, Clocktower and North Bexley.
You can find us in GP surgeries, PCT clinics or children centres. The teams have a
mix of healthcare assistants, nurses and health visitors who deliver the Child
Health Promotion Programme to all families in Bexley.
What can health visitors help you?
Health visitors make home visits to parents with new-born babies.
Our health visitors can offer your and your baby specialist support for:
- sleep problems
- breastfeeding
- domestic violence
- behaviour management
- mental health issues and
- immunisations.
Neo-natal service
A neo-natal BCG service operates across Bexley as well as ante-natal and post-natal health education. Bexley Health Visitors also operate a Paediatric Liaison Service which ensures all children attending or admitted to the local hospital receive the appropriate follow up on discharge, helping to safeguard all children.
Where are health visitors based?
Every family living in Bexley has a named Health Visitor. Our services are provided in partnership with social care, education, acute services and the voluntary sector.
Our health visiting teams are based at health centres across Bexley. Health visitors visit you at homes, or in local health centres and children’s centres.
